Labspace and Astound Innovation Hubs in Abuja and Minna are set to train more young minds in 2024 after training over 80 last year.
Following the success of the 2023 camps, Astound and Labspace Innovation Hubs are ready to train even more young minds in 2024. This year, the camps will feature an exciting new focus on robotics, made possible through partnerships with animators and robotic engineers. This addition aims to broaden the horizons of participants, preparing them for a future increasingly dominated by technology.
During the 2023 camps, Astound and Labspace Innovation Hubs successfully trained over 80 children, ranging in age from 6 to 16, marking a significant step toward nurturing the tech talents of tomorrow. Held in Abuja and Minna, the camps attracted over 80 enthusiastic young participants eager to dive into the world of technology.
Astound Innovation Hub in Abuja welcomed 36 young minds, where participants delved into UI/UX design, coding, and block programming—skills crucial for future career opportunities and societal development. The hub’s commitment to capacity building and community development has been unwavering, with the camp representing a key milestone in its mission to equip kids with essential tech skills.
Similarly, Labspace Innovation Hub in Minna hosted 45 young tech enthusiasts, offering a similar curriculum that included a special gaming day featuring Virtual Reality, chess, and Scrabble. This holistic approach not only provided excitement but also fostered teamwork and innovative thinking.
Reflecting on the success of the camps, Mohammad, an 11-year-old participant at Astound, exclaimed, “I had so much fun learning how to code and design things on Figma. I can’t wait to showcase my skills to my friends!” Parents also expressed their delight, with one mother of a participant at Labspace noting, “My son didn’t want the bootcamp to end. He even said he wanted to trade school for this program because he’s enjoying every moment here.”
Building on the success of the 2023 camps, Astound and Labspace Innovation Hubs are excited to announce that they are gearing up for another cohort in 2024. This year, the camps will continue to focus on technology skills while expanding to include animation and robotics, bringing more robotics-focused content to young learners. This initiative aims to equip even more children with the tools they need for a tech-driven future, offering them endless learning adventures in coding, design, and robotics.
