Bridging the Digital Divide in Minna Schools.

Labspace, in partnership with The Aliyu Project (TAP), is elated to launch a life-changing initiative aimed at empowering 250 underprivileged students from 25 schools across the Minna metropolis. This project focuses on JAMB Mock Examination Support to prepare students for the upcoming 2025 JAMB exams.

In response to the alarming rate of failures in previous years—largely due to inadequate preparation and exposure, we aim to bridge the gap by equipping these students with the tools, knowledge, and experience needed to excel.

In our first phase, 206 students were registered for the CBT mock exam but only 101 turned up. The activity started with an info session by Mr. Hamisu Danyaro who introduced them to digital testing before diving into the mock exam.

The results were eye-opening:

– Absenteeism: 53.85%
– Attendance: 48.78%
– Failure Rate: 34.63%
– Pass Rate: 14.15%

Fear of technology, financial barriers, and lack of mentorship contribute to high absenteeism and failure rates. These findings highlight the urgent need for these types of interventions.

Although this is just the first phase of the project, it is already clear that the students have acquired significant knowledge and skills. This shows we are on the right track, but there is still much work to be done to achieve the desired outcomes and ensure that every student has an equal opportunity to succeed.
